DC Entertainment president and CCO Geoff Johns has debuted the first tease for the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel, a logo card that simply reads “WW84.” Check it out in full in the gallery below!
It’s long been rumored that the Wonder Woman sequel will have a Cold War setting in the 1980s, but now we know it will be set specifically in 1984. It remains to be seen if the film’s title will also reference the year but stayed tuned for updates!
Director Patty Jenkins is returning behind the camera for Wonder Woman 2 and is co-writing the script with Dave Callaham (The Expendables, Godzilla) and Johns. Gal Gadot played the title role in last year’s Wonder Woman and will return as the princess of Themyscira/Diana Prince. Joining her in the sequel will be Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, Narcos) in an undisclosed role and comedian Kristen Wiig is set to play villain Cheetah in the film.
The first Wonder Woman film also starred Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Saïd Taghmaoui and Eugene Brave Rock and made a massive $821 million at the global box office.
Wonder Woman 2 is scheduled for release in Australian cinemas on October 31, 2019.
